Other manufacturers use the cantilever crank design (below) much like the
inexpensive weed-whacker with cast crankcases. The unsupported back side
of the crankshaft is subject to bending forces every time the engine fires
putting undue strain on the front bearing and seal possibly causing
premature wear.
